On August 25-26, Austin’s first Citywide Church Planter Assessment brings together multiple denominations seeking qualified church planters for Greater Austin. Sponsoring pastors estimate that 200 or more new churches are needed to keep pace with growing people groups and to reach unchurched area residents, currently over 85% of Austin’s total population. The Citywide Assessment is the first step toward a collaborative church planting movement proposed by church planting leaders when they met with each other for the first time on January 17, 2008 at ABBA’s invitation.
